ANTI-RAGGING POLICY
Anti-Ragging Policy for Radiant PU College, Vijaypur:
At Radiant PU College, Vijaypur, we believe in maintaining a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all students. Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited and is treated as a serious offense. The college adheres to the guidelines issued by the UGC and Pre-University Education Board of Karnataka to eliminate and prevent ragging in educational institutions.
Definition of Ragging
Ragging includes any act of physical or psychological abuse, teasing, harassment, or humiliation by one student or a group of students over another student(s), particularly freshers. This can be in the form of:
- Verbal abuse or threats
- Physical assault or use of force
- Forcing students to perform objectionable or indecent acts
- Public humiliation or intimidation
- Any act causing mental or emotional distress
Objectives of the Policy
- To create a safe and supportive academic environment.
- To prevent any form of ragging on campus.
- To take immediate and effective action against those found guilty of ragging.
- To promote awareness among students about the consequences of ragging.
Preventive Measures
- Awareness Campaigns: Regular anti-ragging awareness drives through posters, seminars, and orientation programs.
- Undertakings: All students and parents are required to sign anti-ragging affidavits during admission.
- Mentoring Cells: Faculty-led student mentoring groups will provide emotional and academic support to new students.
- Anti-Ragging Committee: A dedicated committee of faculty, administrative staff, and students to monitor and prevent ragging.
- Surveillance: Strict supervision in hostels, corridors, and common areas through patrol and CCTV.
Reporting Mechanism
Victims or witnesses of ragging can report incidents through:
- Directly contacting the Anti-Ragging Committee
- Calling the Principal’s Office or submitting a written complaint
- Using the college’s online grievance redressal system
Confidentiality of the complainant will be maintained at all stages.
Disciplinary Action
Upon verification and inquiry, the following disciplinary actions may be taken against those found guilty of ragging:
- Written warning or apology
- Suspension from classes or college premises
- Debarring from examinations or college events
- Expulsion from the institution
- FIR lodging and legal action as per Karnataka Educational Institutions (Prohibition of Ragging) Act, 1983
Support for Victims
The college provides counselling and academic support to affected students and ensures they do not face any further discrimination or retaliation.
